Octodad: Dadliest Catch is arriving on Xbox One next week on 26th August.
Developer Young Horses noted on its blog that it will cost $14.99 (about £10) and will include all of the free “Shorts” DLC. These include two short episodes: one showing our tentacled hero going on his first date with his now wife Scarlett, and the other a tale told by his children envisioning Octodad as a surgeon in a medical drama.
“We’re also looking into possible alternate control schemes unique to Xbox One that we’ll talk about at a later date,” the developer teased. A Kinect-mode perhaps?
Octodad: Dadliest Catch is already available on PC, Mac, Linux, PS4 and Vita. A Wii U version is also in the works, but no release date has been announced for that.
Eurogamer contributor Dan Whitehead, a father who may or may not be an octopus, rather liked this awkward aquatic comedy. “Played solo or with friends, Octodad is frequently laugh-out-loud hilarious, thanks both to the random mayhem and the deft script,” he wrote in his Octodad review. “It’s also a surprisingly sweet game with a genuine depth to its main character.”
